Voting Dates Update

Hello Fanatics!

We would like to announce that this year the voting process is going to be a bit different. Because of the incredible response we got this year, we have decided to do Two Rounds of Voting.

The First Round of Voting will start on May 31st, 2015. You'll have TWO WEEKS to get your votes in before the poll closes on June 14th, 2015. You'll be able to choose five or ten nominees in each category (if there's less than ten nominees in a category, you'll only be able to pick five).

The Top 5/10 will continue to the Second Round of Voting, which will start on June 15th, 2015 and end ONE WEEK later on June 22nd, 2015. Yes, because of time restraints, we'll only be having the second round up for one week, so keep an eye out when the poll comes up! You'll be only be able to pick the Top 3 on this round.

Winners will be announced on June 25th, 2015. Like last year, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will receive a banner made by Mina.

You better start picking your favorites now! You'll only have ONE chance to vote, SO MAKE IT COUNT!

Are you excited? WE TOTALLY ARE! We can't wait to see who makes it this year.

We're Experiencing Some Technical Difficulties...

Hey Fanatic Fanfics,

Mina here to bring you up to date where we stand. It's been a long week for the validators and an even longer weekend for me.

I'm in charge of the blog, so everything that is posted here goes by me first. Unfortunately, we're experiencing issues with blogger. It's not letting me publish new pages, or saving any changes whatsoever.

This is troubling because I spend the entire weekend creating this wonderful tables with all the lovely nominees you guys picked...only for blogger to refuse to save the page when I paste the table. DAMMIT!

So I'm back to square one, putting everything in a word doc, which is going to take time... Yeah, you see where this is going, aren't you?

It is with sadness that I must let you guys know that Nominations Announcements are postponed for at least 2 more days. Maybe 1, I'm not sure at this point, but I'll try my best to get those nominees up ASAP. I PROMISE!

Clarification for Nominations

Hello Fanatics,

It's been almost a week since we opened submissions, and our form manager has noticed some irregularities in the nominations. Since it has happened several times, we would like to clarify a few things.

ALL-TIME FAVORITE FANFICS: This category was created so each fandom could nominate their favorite stories. All stories MUST be from the fandom they are being nominated in. NO CROSSOVERS. We have the other categories for that, so please nominate stories from only the respective fandoms. In the case of the Marvel Universe, crossovers among the Marvel stand alones are allowed, but NOT outside that fandom.   

2014 FIRST PLACE WINNERS CANNOT BE NOMINATED: In this case it seems people aren't exactly checking the 2014 Winners List we have on the blog. PLEASE take the time to check if the story, author, beta, pre-reader and/or banner maker you're about to nominate has won last year. To clarify something about stories in the Favorite Category Fanfics: Stories from an author that won that category last year are admitted, just not the story that won first place last year.   

CHECK THE LINKS ARE WORKING BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR NOMINATION: We had several google links that aren't working on the forms. PLEASE get the correct link from the site/blog where the story is posted. Don't copy the links from your google search. We don't have the time to search for the right links, and it pains our form administrator to have to delete those entries.

This is your opportunity to recognize all those talented people that have taken their time to write those stories that captured you from the start, for authors to recognize those who helped them fix their grammatical faux pas, and for anyone to shine light into the graphic artists in every fandom.

When providing a story link, any fanfiction site is valid (Fanfiction.net, FictionPad, Twilighted, The Writer's Coffee Shop, Archive of Our Own, etc.). Blogs and tumblrs are also welcome. As long as you can read the story online with the author's permission, then the link will be valid.

Hello Fanfic Fanatics,

We have great news! 

We have a new validating team this year. Welcome to Karrie, Sherry, Jeanine, and Chandrakanta. Your help during this crazy awards season is going to invaluable, so thank you very much for signing up.

Now, let's talk about a few changes we've done for the awards this year.

Categories

The Categories page has been updated to include the new fandoms, as well to update and clarify a few things people got confused about last year.

We urge everyone to read carefully what each category entails before nominations open, so you have a clear idea of what you'll have to submit when the forms open.

Also, two old categories have been renamed:

• Favorite Otherworld Fanfic, formerly known as Favorite Supernatural Fanfic. This name was changed after a few confused the fandom with the genre. Since we cannot change the name of a show, we changed the name of the category, which also allows us to expand the genre a bit, since now both supernatural AND fantasy genres are included in the same category.
• Favorite Risqué Fanfic, formerly known as Favorite Lemon Fanfic. This name was changed after a slight confusion about the meaning of lemons, and one of the main characters from 30 Rock. So, we went for a more obvious, yet not so obvious choice. We are all about the lemony/smexy goodness in the more mature stories.

Rules

There is one New Rule for this year's nominations.

After a lot of thinking, we decided that all First Place Winners from last year's awards won't be able to be nominated this year.

We do this in order to give the other fics that couldn't take that first place spot last year a chance to take it home this time.

We are always trying to keep things fair and we hope you understand why we did this. If you don't, please don't be afraid to leave us a comment below. 

Dates

After discussing with all Validators and Mina, who makes the forms and banners, we settled on the following dates.

• Nomination forms will open on May 4th, 2015.

Names, titles, and links will be required for most if not all categories, so be sure to have that information ready when submitting your nominations.

• Nominations will be accepted for two weeks, closing on May 18th, 2015. 

• Nominees will be announced on May 25th, 2015.

This date can be subjected to change. It'll all depend on the response we get from all you readers, since it can take a while to validate all 41 of the categories. So, if we are a couple of days late, we hope you understand.

• Voting page will open to voters on May 31st, 2015. 

Like last year, our poll manager can put it up early to test, but voting won't be valid before the set date, so please don't cast your vote before May 31st.

• Voting will be open for two weeks before closing the page on June 14th, 2015.

Only one vote will be accepted per person, so make it count and spread the word around!

• Winners will be announced on June 21st, 2015.

This is another date that can be subjected to change. It'll all depend on how much time our banner maker has free. So please, be patient if we take an extra day or two.
