Hello Fanfic Fanatics,
We have great news!
We have a new validating team this year. Welcome to Karrie, Sherry, Jeanine, and Chandrakanta. Your help during this crazy awards season is going to invaluable, so thank you very much for signing up.
Now, let's talk about a few changes we've done for the awards this year.
Categories
The
Categories page has been updated to include the new fandoms, as well to update and clarify a few things people got confused about last year.
We urge everyone to read carefully what each category entails before nominations open, so you have a clear idea of what you'll have to submit when the forms open.
Also, two old categories have been renamed:
- Favorite Otherworld Fanfic, formerly known as Favorite Supernatural Fanfic. This name was changed after a few confused the fandom with the genre. Since we cannot change the name of a show, we changed the name of the category, which also allows us to expand the genre a bit, since now both supernatural AND fantasy genres are included in the same category.
- Favorite Risqué Fanfic, formerly known as Favorite Lemon Fanfic. This name was changed after a slight confusion about the meaning of lemons, and one of the main characters from 30 Rock. So, we went for a more obvious, yet not so obvious choice. We are all about the lemony/smexy goodness in the more mature stories.
Rules
There is one
New Rule for this year's nominations.
After a lot of thinking, we decided that
all First Place Winners from last year's awards won't be able to be nominated this year.
We do this in order to give the other fics that couldn't take that first place spot last year a chance to take it home this time.
We are always trying to keep things fair and we hope you understand why we did this. If you don't, please don't be afraid to leave us a comment below.
Dates
After discussing with all Validators and Mina, who makes the forms and banners, we settled on the following dates.
- Nomination forms will open on May 4th, 2015.
Names, titles, and links will be required for most if not all categories, so be sure to have that information ready when submitting your nominations.
- Nominations will be accepted for two weeks, closing on May 18th, 2015.
- Nominees will be announced on May 25th, 2015.
This date can be subjected to change. It'll all depend on the response we get from all you readers, since it can take a while to validate all 41 of the categories. So, if we are a couple of days late, we hope you understand.
- Voting page will open to voters on May 31st, 2015.
Like last year, our poll manager can put it up early to test, but voting won't be valid before the set date, so please don't cast your vote before May 31st.
- Voting will be open for two weeks before closing the page on June 14th, 2015.
Only one vote will be accepted per person, so make it count and spread the word around!
- Winners will be announced on June 21st, 2015.
This is another date that can be subjected to change. It'll all depend on how much time our banner maker has free. So please, be patient if we take an extra day or two.
